Sneijder is the Netherlands most-capped player with 133 appearances and his signing is something of a coup for the Qatari league and Al Gharafa, who sit in mid-table with just 11 points from 11 games.
Football giants Al Gharafa announced yesterday that it has signed Dutch star Wesley Sneijder without specifying the contract duration or the financial details of the deal.
"We are delighted to announce that @sneijder101010 will join Al Gharafa Sports Club", read a statement from Al Gharafa on Twitter.
Sneijder, a 33-year-old attacking midfielder, underwent a medical examination in Doha and is expected to be presented to the media in the coming days.
Other big names to have played in Qatar include Raul and Pep Guardiola.
He also spent four years with Turkish giants Galatasaray before joining Nice last summer.
Sneijder is expected to play his first match with Al Gharafa next Friday against Al Ahli in round 12. He's won domestic titles in the Netherlands, Spain, Italy and Turkey, not to mention holding aloft the prestigious Champions League in 2010.
The league's best known player is former Barcelona midfielder Xavi Hernandez, who plays for Al Sadd but is likely to retire at the end of the season.
